2017 Junior Membership Applications Open

Posted by in Public

Following an increase in helpers for Junior sessions, we are now able to take a limited number of new junior members for the Wednesday group session.

Please complete an application form before bringing your child along to a junior session.

As of Wednesday January 4th, junior run sessions will take place from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. These sessions are for younger juniors, up to School Year 9.

Older juniors (Year 10 and above) may run with appropriate adult group from 7:00pm.

Junior run requirements are as follows:

  • The sessions are open to young people aged 9 or above who can run for at least 2km without stopping.
  • The maximum distance covered in a session is approximately 5k. The aim of all sessions is to encourage participants to adopt healthy lifestyles and have fun in a safe environment.
  • The activities covered will include warm up drills, warm downs and stretching, run technique drills, road runs (on pavements), trail runs, beach runs, intervals, relays and games.
  • Occasionally junior club championship races and time trials may be held instead of run training. Participants are encouraged to wear high viz clothing and this is compulsory when running on dark evenings.
  • Primary aged juniors should be accompanied to the sessions by a responsible adult, who must sign them in at the beginning of each session and must sign them out at the end of the session.
  • Secondary aged juniors can sign themselves in and out if they bring a note/letter from their parents giving them permission to do so.
  • New members  will have to complete  a membership form and pay £10 membership fee BEFORE they can run with the club.

Thank you
