Purbeck 10k Road Race – Details

The Purbeck 10k Road Race takes place on Wednesday 16th May 2012 with a 7.30pm start.

The Race has a brand new location this year, starting from Norden Park & Ride, just North of Corfe Castle. Postcode BH20 5DW

The route follows a Picturesque rural undulating course on country lanes taking in stunning views of Corfe Castle. The race will be on roads closed to traffic.

The 10k is Race 6  in the Dorset Road Running League 2012.

Could all Purbeck Runners please read our ”Purbeck 10k Members Running Criteria” before sending in any entries.

How much does entry cost?

£8.00 for a UK Athletic Club Member and £10.00 for any non-affiliated runner

Where do I get an application form?

Postal entry is now closed

Can I enter on-line?

Entry has closed now.

When does entry close?

All entries postal and on-line need to be in by Monday 7th May at the latest.

Can I enter on the day?

Sorry, unfortunately entries are in advance only and are not available on the day.

What’s the age limit for the race?

All runners 15 years old and over are welcome. This is the official UK Athletics Age Limit for a 10k.

Can Wheelchair Athletes take part?

Unfortunately not due to safety reasons with the course. Some of the hills are too steep for wheelchairs and the course too narrow.

For the same reason we are not able to accommodate dogs, buggies and accompanying cyclists

I’ve found I’m unfortunately able to run, can I swap my number to another runner?

You can transfer your number by sending full details to us using the Contact Form at the Bottom of this page.

 The latest date for the change is Monday 7th May and absolutely no changes can be made after that.

There will be no opportunities for Number Transfers on the day.

When will my Number be sent?

We anticipate the first batch of numbers being sent by early May but this Website will give up to date details.

What about Car Parking?

Unlike the previous 10k  parking will be available very near the finish. As spaces are limited please arrive early. In the event of the Norden Car Parks being full our Marshalls will direct you to alternate Car Parking.

Where does the race start?

On the road about a five minute walk from the main Car Park/Finish

And the finish?

In the Norden Car Park.

Will water be avilable?

Yes, there are water stations shortly before half way and shortly after half way and water will avialble to all runners at the finish.

What do I get?

All finishers receive a very nice Commemorative T-Shirt. Please ensure you state your size on the Application Form or as part of the On-line Entry procedure.

What prizes are there?

FIRST THREE: Male & Female.  TWO in each of the following categories:Male Vet 40, MV 50 and MV 60.  Female Vet 35, FV 45 and FV 55.First Male and Female under 21. First Male Team (4 to count). First Female Team (3 to count) Please Note: 1 prize per runner, not including team prizes.

When and where will the Prize Giving be?

At Norden as soon as possible after our last runner is home.

When and where will be results be available?

As soon as possible on this site. Hopefully on Thursday 17th May!

Will there be toilet facilities?

Yes, plenty of them at Norden! Two locations!

Will refreshments be available?

Swanage Railway will be doing a Barbecue all evening.  Hot & Cold Drinks, cakes, chocolates will be available.  All yummy stuff!!!

Will Race Massage be available?

Yes. It will kindly be provided by the experts from  Body in Motion
