Club Championship 2019

Club Championship 2019

It’s that time of year where we look ahead to next year’s club championship races! The committee have put together 15 races for next year, including of course the usual best parkrun and marathon rounds.

The season starts local, with the Swanage Sea Rowing 10K kicking the year off in January. We then have back to back 10 milers, followed by the May 5, a new local race organised by Poole AC. The ever popular Durberville Dash makes an appearance in July, before we enter trail series season with The Beast, Blackhill and Stampede selected. We finish the season with two important DRRL races at Wimborne and Boscombe.

We have 8 races of a distance less than 7.5 miles meaning the championship is accessible for all.

We have selected 8 DRRL races to maximise our chances in the league. We have seen In 2018, especially for the women’s team, that we can beat any other club on our day. As a continued member club of the DRRL we are actively supporting the league and continuation of competitive local league road running.

As reigning champions of the Purbeck Trail Series (again!), we have selected 3 races within the series to give us a great chance of defending our title in 2019.

A note on entries – As I’m sure you are aware, being organised and entering races well in advance is now pretty much the norm, with most races selling out in advance of race day. With that in mind, I have managed to secure 20 reserved places for both Lytchett 10 and Bournemouth 10 until the end of the year. Please don’t delay and get your entries in! The Studland Stampede sold out in less than 24 hours last year, so we will try and secure reserved spaces for this one too. I encourage anyone that entered this year to use your “re-entry slip” to guarantee your spot now!

Blackhill 10k is another that sells out promptly – again, we’ll try to signpost when entries are opened.

If you have any comments regarding next year’s championship proposal, please email or speak to me in person, or one of the other club committee members. We will officially approve the championship at the club AGM on 13th Nov.
