It’s with regret that I am sharing the news that this year’s Purbeck 10k race has been cancelled, due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whilst we had hoped that the situation would have improved enough that the ongoing lockdown measures would be lifted to allow a race attracting 500 runners + supporters, it’s becoming increasingly clear that whilst things may have improved by June, it looks highly unlikely that mass participation events will be allowed.
We had looked at possibly postponing the event to later in the year, however there are a number of races from earlier this year that have already selected the few free slots in an already busy racing calendar.
I’m sure this news will come as a disappointment, not only to runners entered but also to our nominated charities.
What happens next?
As we are cancelling the event, the next Purbeck 10K will be Friday June 25th 2021.
Every entrant to the 2020 race will, by default, be deferred to next year’s race. However, if you would NOT like to be deferred to next year’s race, then please email me at email@example.com and I will arrange for a refund of your race fee.
DRRL and DCC
As a DRRL and DCC race, we have consulted with the league and there will be a separate communication from the league very soon about this years competition.
