The Beast

34 members of the Purbeck Runners took on the might of the Beast on Sunday! This classic trail race, starting and finishing in Corfe, takes in Winspit, St Aldhelm’s Head and Kingston, including the monster steps up to Houns Tout and amounts to a punishing 12.46 miles and 1,697 feet of ascent! The Purbeck Runners delivered some superb performances with Stephen Bridger the first man home from the Club and Charlotte Halford the first woman, while Hamish Murray took an excellent age category win yet again (MV60). There were fantastic achievements by all the Club’s runners with personal bests such as Rab Spurway and Sarah Colquhoun who smashed 40 minutes and 30 minutes respectively off previous times and others completing the daunting challenge for the first time.
