Running With Dogs

We are needing to review our policy on members running with dogs. We know many of you enjoy running with dogs and as a club we generally welcome dogs on our runs. However, there is some ambiguity with UK Athletics at present which we are seeking clarification on. In the meantime if you bring your dog on a club run please ensure you familiarise yourself with the current club guidance detailed below and the risk assessment which you can obtain from the link at the bottom.

Crucially please ensure that your dog is covered by your own pet public liability insurance and dogs must now be kept on a lead at all times during a club run. If you are running with a group you do not usually run with check with the run leader prior to bringing your dog as some groups are not appropriate for dogs.

We want to continue to enjoy running with our four legged companions and in order to do this we are trying to ensure that we have considered risks to other runners, members of the public as well as to your dogs.

As and when we receive further guidance from UK Athletics we will update you accordingly.
